Il Mondo in Mainz

The best Italian in all of Mainz, we were here in October 2020. Hygiene measures were observed here at all times due to the academy. Not to mention the culinary skills of pasta and meat dishes. What made the evening special, however, was the personal and almost familiar touch. The attentive eyes of the service staff surprised me and they were always ready to joke. We have already eaten in many upscale restaurants in Mainz, but have felt most comfortable here in terms of service. We would love to come back.

I travel a lot for work. But I haven't found anything like this anywhere. First class service, friendly and courteous. The food is just incredibly tasty! In summer, the ambience in the inner courtyard is unbeatable. You really feel like you are in Italy. Especially when the pianist hits the keys live. During the second lockdown we went to pick up pizza at least once a week. After you've eaten that, you'll never want to order from the normal delivery service around the corner again. Perfect service, perfect food. Anyone in Mainz or the surrounding area must have been here.

In our opinion the best Italian in Mainz. The dishes are always excellent, whether pizza, pasta, meat or fish, the desserts are always worth a sin. The service is unique, the boss, the two younger blond men - all of them read your wishes from your eyes. Individual dishes are prepared at the table in front of your eyes, and the greeting from the kitchen is great every time. The ambience is wonderful inside and outside in the courtyard. We just like to come here. Price-performance top. Just to be picked up, but we're already looking forward to our next visit after the lockdown.

Ordered for the first time today and it won't be the last. Very fluffy dough and fresh ingredients. You can tell from the pizza. Definitely try it, you will not be disappointed.

As a vegetarian, the pizza is the best around Mainz for me. Whether you eat it there or take a pizza with you, it always tastes great.

The service is fantastic, seldom seen anything so courteous. The food was a dream, not too massive, but also not too little and very tasty. Lots of homemade dishes, especially the olive oil was fantastic. A little higher in price, but totally appropriate in relation. Always my pleasure!

Excellent restaurant in Mainz that is worth a visit. I rarely write reviews but this restaurant deserves it. Very good Italian cuisine and above all a very good concept: spaghetti can be prepared in front of the table, which is a first for an Italian restaurant. I recommend

Absolute highlight in Mainz gastronomy and the best Italian in a 100km radius around Mainz! We are enthusiastic regular guests and Antonio made our civil wedding celebration perfect with culinary highlights! Always my pleasure! By the way, it's also great for picking up pizza or, recently, a dry ager with excellent meat.

Fantastic food, perfect service and a great ambience! Some dishes are even prepared in front of your eyes with detailed explanations. All in all a wonderful experience, can only be recommended!

Great ambience. The food was very tasty and the service is second to none - that could be the headline. The food is made from fresh ingredients, whatever you can taste and the spaghetti carbonara was even prepared live in front of our eyes. Every single step was explained, which was very interesting and impressive. The service, what can I say ...... all the waiters were on their toes, refilled with water and, if necessary, wine and were extremely friendly but never intrusive. Seldom experienced such excellent service. When there was a complaint at the next table, they reacted confidently, offered to prepare the food again, accepted the criticism and both guests got a wine on the house. Maybe it should always be like that, but the reality is often different, so definitely a reason to mention it. We'd love to come back, we're already looking forward to it and say thank you again for a great evening.

In my opinion, by far the best Italian in Mainz. Food and service at the highest level, price / performance ratio is above average. Every time an absolute highlight, you should definitely reserve in advance. In my opinion, some restaurants in Mainz should learn a thing or two about hospitality and the quality of the food. Card payment is possible, parking can be a bit difficult.

Super delicious food, great breakdown, great quality. The staff are also very friendly. Despite full loading, we didn't have to wait long. We would love to come back.

Great ambience, great service, extensive selection, preparation at the table including explanation of the ingredients with origin I like. However, all this has its price, so the best way to take a grappa with the bill, then you go.

Our wood fired pizzas were amazing. We're not wine experts, but I can say the wine and grappa menu was extensive. We ended up splurging on dessert, which turned out to be a tasty decision. Our service was top notch. I wish every restaurant had such attentive, friendly, yet unobtrusive servers. Will be returning for sure!

Live Piano Music, nice waiters, fast service, good food, adequate prices

I do not have enough good things to say about this amazing restaurant! From being greeted at the door by the owner and several staff who in fact each and everyone of them waited on us throughout the night and took time to stop and visit with us all evening long. The food was incredible and you could tell they take pride in their food and restaurant! The suggestions that were made helped us to decide what to eat and did not fail in any way! We will definitely be back! Reservations are recommended!

Food was very good and friendly staff . We were told we can't have just appetizers and we have to order a main order.

The Pizza and the homemade Pasta are spectacular. The services is always friendly, and nice authentic atmosphere.

It didn't seem to me like real Italian food. Just normal things I can also do at home. Service was ok..... I am writing this post regarding the answer of the owner... Yes I've been there, it's in Mainz Finthen, it happens that a few days before I was in another Italian restaurant (I wont mention the name to promote them) and I had the same kind of food but the other one was way better. As you may see in my reviews i am very passionate about Italian food and I've been to many of them around the world. This one didn't seem particularly excellent to me, just good.

SUNDAY at IL MONDO , Finthen ! Herr Antonio treated us excellent ! We had great food, great service with friendly south Italian smile ! We had Carpaccio, busheta as starter ... surf & turf steak for my son , Wiener Schnitzel for my wife , sword fish steak for myself with smashed potatoes, oven potatoes and garden salads ! Excellent in food quality and also in taste !

Friendly service and great food. I highly recommend the Pizza Mama Mia, and if it’s not hot enough for you just let Don know and he will make it hot enough.

I can’t imagine life without Il Mondo! Authentic fine Italian cuisine made with love and pride. The service is always superb; they aim to please at the highest level. Delicious meals and pizzas. Romantic, upscale, yet relaxed. You can never go wrong with an afternoon or evening here.

The waiters are very friendly. The outdoor dinner experience is very relaxing. The foods and the atmosphere are worth every penny.

What a great night! Loved the atmosphere - cool and funky! Service was excellent! Asked to be moved to a window table and there was no issue. Waiter was excellent and very personable! Food was delicious and interesting! Can't wait to go back again!!
